Project Objectives

The first Objective will be the development of a Background and Position Paper. This research paper will give background information for the project, compiling research from previous studies and facts and figures from the nine participating partner countries. The Background and Position Paper is meant to give a first impression of the problem of elder abuse, from which the project steering group can than build to a more in-depth understanding of elder abuse and the prevention of elder abuse in the different countries.

The second Objective will be a research on the backgrounds of elder abuse in each participating individual country. In order to give a comprehensive overview of good practices in policy approaches to prevent elder abuse, it is important to understand the (cultural and individual) specifics of different situations of elder abuse. To understand how to prevent elder abuse, the abuse itself must first be sought to be understood.

The third Objective of the project will be a research on good practices in policy approaches to prevent elder abuse. Each of the participating countries will contribute their national information to this research.

Finally, all the information gathered in the third Objective will be compiled into a comprehensive framework of good practices in policy approaches for the prevention of elder abuse, which will be the fourth Milestone of the project.
