Strengthening Older People's Rights: Towards a UN Convention 01.04.2010

Dear members and supporters of INPEA, On behalf of the Executive Committee of INPEA - the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, I am pleased to distribute this document created by a pool of NGO's dedicated to aging. Each of the participating NGOs is accredited at the United Nations including our organization. Launched in New York this week, this publication will lay the foundations of a fruitful international collaboration to stimulate and enhance the rights of older persons. A PDF of the document is attached; it will also be posted on our website www.inpea.net for easy access by all. I would like to publicly thank Susan Somers who was the INPEA representative on this project. She and Pat Brownell represent INPEA at the UN in New York and on the New York NGO Committee on Aging. Should you have any comments on the document, please forward them to Susan or to the INPEA Secretariat (see below for contact information for the Secretariat) or to any of the participating organizations named in the document. We also invite you to circulate the document widely through your networks and contacts and at events you may be planning in your community for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15. Best regards, Gloria M. Gutman, PhD, FCAHS, OBC President, INPEA
