- Establishment of National Elder Abuse Implementation Group now replaced by National Elder Abuse Steering Committee.

- Establishment of HSE senior case work elder abuse service.

- Training and education.

- Awareness raising campaign.

- Development of interagency protocols.

- Development of policies and procedures for public, voluntary and private care providers.

- Establishment of National Centre for the Protection of Older People.
