Day 1: 7 January 2010
Â
Morning session:
Â
Welcome.
ANBO’s Manager Projects, Cecilia van der Hoorn, welcomes all project partners. Good to see that almost everyone was able to make it. Unfortunately, the bad winter weather prevented the Irish project partner, AgeAction, to attend the meeting. ANBO will try to meet up with them on a later date to go through the project procedure.
Â
Cecilia van der Hoorn introduces the organization ANBO. For more information, see the presentation.
Â
Partner presentations
Â
All project partners introduce themselves, Â their own organization and give a brief overview of the (prevention of) elder abuse in their country. For more information, see the presentations of all partners.
Â
Afternoon session
Â
Partner contracts
Â
The project partners have decided on a partner agreement that will include a clause on intellectual property. This allows for the project partners to make free use of the project’s outputs at the end of the project, without being limited by the project coordinator ANBO.
Â
Â
Project procedure
Â
The main outputs of the project will be the following:
Â
Background and Position paper
National backgrounds
National good practice in policy approaches and frameworks to prevent elder abuse
Table of good practices
Reference Framework with recommendations to prevent elder abuse
Â
The eventual output of the project would have to be a Reference Framework that makes recommendations on the policy measures that work best to prevent elder abuse and should be made available in all Member States to the best extend possible.
Â
The project partners agreed on a sharpening of the work programme that would create a good opportunity to help support both national and international policy for the prevention of elder abuse.
Â
Â
Getting experts involved:
Â
          Â
It was discussed that ALL project partners will need to get experts and stakeholders outside the project steering group involved. To do so, all partners will use their own networks, make use of the media and represent the project during seminars, workshops and conferences.
Â

Â
Day 2: 8 January 2010
Â
General:
Â
The agenda points are switched. First, the use of the website will be explained, after which MOVISIE will present the use of the questionnaire for the Background and Position Paper.
Â
Use of the www.preventelderabuse.eu website:
Â
All project partners are given a handbook by which they can learn the use of the website in more detail. Also, a presentation is given by Ben Slijkhuis of Community Facilities to show the project partners how the website can be used.
Â
The most important message is that the website is meant to share knowledge on the subject of elder abuse in a transparent, open way of communication. The website uses web 2.0. technology.
Â
Questions:
Who is the target group of the project website?
Â
The main target group of the website are the experts, policy makers and stakeholders who work on the subject of elder abuse within the European Union. They are asked through the website to actively contribute to the project. The general public can visit the website and contribute as well (where this is relevant), but they are not the main focus of the project.
Â
Can everyone just randomly post messages, articles and opinions on the website? Will these messages immediately show?
Â
Everyone can contribute whatever they think might be relevant to the project. However, the project partners will always get to see the information and can decide to post it on the website or not. The project partners have a ‘gatewatchers role’ in this sense.
Â
Â
Â
How many times is the website back-upped?
Â
4 times a day.
Â
Background and Position Paper:
Â
Movisie presents a questionnaire for the Background and Position paper of the project. Through this questionnaire, project partners can give information on the meaning of elder abuse within their country. Also, it will give a structure to experts outside the project to give any information they might have on elder abuse. The answers to the questionnaire will help define how national policy in the different participating countries takes shape. This information will be linked to important national and international policy documents, to create a map of how different policy papers and measures from the international to the national level are interrelated. This will be the project’s basis, from which elder abuse and it’s prevention can be better understood and from which we can work to a report with recommendations on the prevention of elder abuse in Member States’ national policies.
Â
The Background and Position Paper will be finished and published on the website by April / Mai 2010.
Â
Evaluation round:
Â
Absent: L’Ubica Galislova, Fórum (Slovakia), due to early flight back to Bratislava.
Â
Cecilia van der Hoorn, ANBO (The Netherlands)
Â
Thank you all for coming. We had a good first meeting. There are many expertises in the project group, and it looks like we can look forward to an inspirational collaboration.
Â
Sophia Wanche, KMOP (Greece)
Â
The meeting was well organized. The introductory presentations to the organizations took some time, but this is inevitable as well as interesting. We have made some good first steps and it feels like we have something to work with. It was a good first meeting.
Â
Licia Bocaletti & Salvatore Milianta, ANS (Italy)
Â
Good organization of the meeting. It is good to see so many different organizations with different expertises. It feels like we are on the right track.
Â
Kristin Jansen & Maria van Bavel, Movisie (The Netherlands)
Â
The meeting was well organized. Although the countries represented in the project are on different levels in the prevention of elder abuse, there is a great deal of knowledge available among all partners. We are well informed and have a shared interest in preventing elder abuse from happening. A good starting point.
Â
Eva Reitner, EURAG (Austria)
Â
The meeting was well organized. All the questions were answered during the meeting. It seems like we can learn a lot from each other and can look forward to a good collaboration.
Â
Jan Lorman, Zivot90 (Czech Republic)
Â
Good organization of the meeting. This provided for good working conditions. It is good to see that for a project this important, we have competent and open minded people and organizations working on the project. This should make up for good team work.
Â
Pawel Lubicki, FORUM 50+ (Poland)
Â
The meeting was well organized. Happy to see that we will be working with a good, interactive website. Also happy to see the project definition sharpened to making a Framework of recommendations.
Â
Janja Cesnik, Slovene Foundation of Pensioners Organizations (Slovenia)
Â
Good organization of the meeting. It is important with every project that the project group has a good feeling of working with one another. The project has started positively in this sense. This of course starts with the individuals involved, but it is also very important to note that we seem to have the right organizations at the table for the project.
